Benzema’s brutal decision follows his earlier decision to call time on his international career on the back of France’s heartbreaking World Cup final defeat to Argentina.
According to ‘Deportes Cuatro’, Benzema unfollowed his Real Madrid teammate Aurelien Tchouameni and 14 other France players.
Those who avoided the cut were Mbappe, Varane, Camavinga and Thuram.

Benzema’s break-up with the French national team is complete. According to ‘El Larguero’, the Real Madrid striker and France had a falling out after Didier Deschamps found out that he had not told the whole truth about his physical state.
However, days after he announced his retirement from the national side, the Ballon d’Or winner unfollowed 15 of his teammates, including Aurelien Tchouameni, who is his teammate at Real Madrid.
Out of all the players in the World Cup 2022, the only ones to avoid the cut were Mbappe, Thuram, Varane and Camavinga. In fact, in the days before, it was revealed that Hugo Lloris and Griezmann were supposedly in favour of him missing the World Cup, according to journalist Romain Molina.
Finally, after minutes of going viral, the Real Madrid striker re-followed Tchouameni to end the controversy around both Real Madrid men.
In fact, it is worth noting that, in Benzema’s ‘following’ list, the midfielder’s name is the first to appear.
According to the Sports Brief report, a rift has been reported between Karim Benzema and France Head Coach Didier Deschamps even as the defending champions prepare to face Argentina in the 2022 World Cup final.
Benzema was part of Deschamps’ final squad to Qatar but had to return to Madrid after picking up a thigh injury. He has since recovered and could have been eligible to play on Sunday, December 18th.
GFF now reports that Benzema was unhappy with how he was treated when he got that injury. The Real Madrid captain reportedly wanted to hang around in Qatar and given a chance to recover to have a shot at playing but Deschamps sent him home.
