Nigeria move 14 place up in FIFA rankings, now third in Africa

The Super Eagles of Nigeria have moved up 14 places in the latest FIFA world rankings following an impressive performance at the 2023 AFCON, which was hosted by Cote d’Ivoire. 

The Nigerian national team moved from the 42nd position to the 28th position in the world.

According to the latest FIFA World Ranking, released on Thursday, the Super Eagles have risen from sixth to third place in Africa.

The national team has reached its highest global ranking since May 2013, marking a significant achievement.

Morocco is the highest-ranked country on the continent, with Senegal in second position.

Egypt and Cote d’Ivoire complete the top five teams on the continent.

Argentina remained the world’s number one in the most recent ranking, with France and Brazil coming in second and third, respectively.

The FIFA Men’s World Ranking is a rating system created by football’s global governing body for men’s national teams in association football.

Based on their performance in games, the men’s member teams are ranked, with the most successful teams at the top.
