Ralf Rangnick’s condemning press conference resurfaced online after Man United’s 2-1 defeat to Brighton (Video)

Ralf Rangnick’s condemning press conference has re-emerged online and gone viral following Manchester United’s shock defeat to Brighton & Hove Albion on Sunday.

The reign of Erik ten Hag as Man United manager started badly with a 2-1 loss at Old Trafford.

As a result of their crushing defeat, Roy Keane and Paul Scholes didn’t hold back after their speech.

A lacklustre performance by Scott McTominay in the middle of the park was also singled out by fans online.

The post-match interview Rangnick gave following Man United’s 4-0 defeat to Liverpool last season is also worth listening to, as he was not the only player who failed to deliver against Brighton.

The German manager, who had an interim spell in charge of the club, spoke of a team rebuild; from players to formation.

The video on Twitter is accompanied with the caption: “Ralf Rangnick knew these players aren’t good enough. They sacked him instead of listening.”

Speaking after Man United’s 4-0 defeat to Liverpool last season, he said: “The team needs a rebuild.

“Not because some players have to go but quite a few have no contracts anymore, their contracts are expiring, then for me it’s clear there will be six, seven, eight, maybe ten new players.

“Before you sign those players, you need to be aware of how you want to play, what kind of football does the new manager want to play?”

He added: “If you look at the two clubs that are currently dominating the Premier League [Manchester City and Liverpool], they did exactly that.

“They changed the whole thing with regards to formation, what kind of players do we need, what kind of football do we want to play?

“The headline of everything was: ‘How do we want to play?’

“And underneath this headline, in every transfer window, they’ve created the team that they have in both clubs.”

Man United started two of their new summer signing against Brighton, Lisandro Martinez and Christian Eriksen, with the club still looking for new talent ahead of transfer deadline day.
